Smith Randle Bailey saw Jesus at 10:50 AM. He is now in the loving care of His Creator. We were honored to have him as our son.

5-7-10 update:
Family & Friends
Thank you for your prayers and thoughts. Yesterday we were given very bad news. Smith’s sonogram showed extensive bleeding on his brain. There are four levels of bleeding, four being the worse.
Smith was a three on his right side and a four on his left side.
Please pray for Smith. Please pray for Kori and I as we go through this terrible struggle. We love you and thank you for your prayers and support.
God is still good,
Jon

4-29-10 update:
God is so good! Little Smith was born this morning, April 29th, around 3:14 and came in weighing 1 lb. 8 oz., stretching out to a whopping 12.5 inches! He is doing fairly well. He did not have to be resuscitated at all, he tried to breath on his own, and continues to try, his blood sugar is okay for now, blood pressure on the low/normal side and there are no indications of bleeding on the brain at this time. He is absolutely beautiful. A nice red, ruddy color, which means his blood is circulating well. You know, you tell your self that life is a miracle, but until you have seen something this small, that looks so totally human, just in miniature, only then do understand God’s incredible gift of the creation of life. Had I not known it before, I would know it full well now. He is a mighty God! He is able to do above and beyond all that we could imagine or hope for. Smith is proof of that!
Smith is a fighter. He came into the world fighting and we are believing he will continue to fight as we fight with him. He has no voice, so we are his voice to the Father. Please keep him in your prayers. There are many hurdles to cross before we are out of the woods. I’ve listed specific things below to pray for that the neo-natal specialist talked to us about.
1. That he will have no bleeding on the brain. That usually happens within the first week if it’s going to do so.
2. That his lungs would begin to produce a fluid that they need for him to breathe on his own
3. There is a vein in the area of his heart and lungs, a connector vein that normally closes up on its own in full-term births. We need that vein to close so he will not have to have surgery.
4. His blood sugar needs to stay at a stable level; little or no fluctuation
5. His blood pressure needs to stay up and stabilize
6. Wisdom for all the nurses, doctors, specialist that work on Smith
7. Jon and Kori – for strength to face the coming days
I’m so proud of our kids. They have believed God and not wavered. They are facing new challenges now and we know they are going to need our prayers even more. Thank you for all your prayers, kind words and support. We feel you are like the watchmen in Isaiah 62: 6 & 7 “I have posted watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the Lord give yourselves no rest, and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem (Smith) and makes her the praise of the earth.” You will never know how much it has meant to us. We have felt your love and we thank you deeply.
Our prayer all along for Smith, Kori and Jon has been Psalms 105: 1-11. We have, in prayer, “looked to the Lord and his strength and sought his face. We have reminded him of the promises he made with Abraham and that they are ours because of Christ. We have asked for our portion (vs. 11) of that promise; nothing more, just our portion.” We continue to ask and claim this for Smith, Jon, Kori and our entire family.
Again thank you for your prayers,
Praying faithfully,
Randy and Nancy

Last night about midnight we got a call from Jon saying that he and Kori were at the hospital. She is 22 weeks and 5 days pregnant and threatening to deliver little Smith. Her cervix is spontaneously dilating and part of the water sac has descended. They have her in bed, tilted at a 45 degree angle to try to keep the bag from coming out all the way. As it stands right now, a specialist will see her in the morning to determine what they think will happen. We need her body to stop the dilating and stop the contractions. Smith is not far enough along to make it at this time, so would you please pray for them. The doctor said he is doing great inside of her; he’s high up and not showing any signs of trying to drop. He has a strong heart beat and his vitals are good. Kori and Jon are believing as we are but it is critical. We need her to keep him, ideally, until she is 36 weeks, but even at 25 weeks it would be better.
I wanted you to have this first thing this morning. We will be going back to the hospital early to try to be there when the doctors come by. Randy, Jon, Kori, myself and our whole family appreciate your prayers. Pray specifically that her body would stop labor, Smith would stay healthy and strong, and God would give us a miracle.
We love you all and really don’t know how we could even face this without your love and support and prayers. Please add us to any prayer chains that you know of.
Nancy and Randy
